SECONDARY SCHOOL GIRLS

North Otago Rugby is proud to support the growth of girls’ rugby in the region.

Our local secondary schools, Waitaki Girls' High School and St Kevin's College, currently field combined teams in both the U15 and U18 Otago Regional and Hanan grades.

These teams have established themselves as strong competitors, with the U18 side remaining undefeated over the last two seasons and winning the 2021 and 2022 South Canterbury competitions.

Notable player achievements from these teams include standout performances in Hanan Shield and regional representative selections, with players going on to represent Otago Spirit, Matātu Super Rugby and Black Ferns XV Squads. This success is a testament to the hard work and determination of our young female athletes, who are pushing the boundaries of what is possible for women’s rugby in our region.

The U18 girls’ team continues to build a legacy of excellence, and the players are supported with opportunities to progress to higher levels of competition. From regional provincial rugby to national development squads, we’re proud to see our players aspire to greater achievements and take their place in the future of women’s rugby in New Zealand.
