SECONDARY SCHOOL BOYS

North Otago Rugby is proud to support and develop young athletes through our Secondary School Boys Rugby program.

With two strong rugby schools, Waitaki Boys’ High School and St Kevin’s College, along with structured age-grade representative pathways, we provide opportunities for players to grow, compete, and aspire to higher levels of the game.

Both Waitaki Boys’ High School and St Kevin’s College have rich rugby traditions and compete in the Southern Region competition, taking on top schools from Otago and Southland. These matchups offer a challenging and competitive environment, helping players develop their skills and gain exposure to representative selectors.

Beyond school rugby, our North Otago age-grade representative teams provide an additional pathway for players to compete against our Hanan Shield neighbours, South Canterbury and Mid Canterbury. This connection extends to the Highlanders development system, ensuring that North Otago’s emerging talent has a clear route to higher honours.

For those with aspirations beyond school and representative rugby, our development pathways provide opportunities to progress to the Heartland Championship, NPC, Super Rugby, and ultimately teams in black. Whether players aim to represent their school, their province, or even their country, North Otago Rugby is committed to supporting their journey every step of the way.
